2026 Season Status
Football
2025 Big 12 Champions — beat BYU 34-7, first CFP appearance, fell to Oregon in the Orange Bowl. Heading into 2026, the QB room is wide open after Sorsby's exit (gambling scandal, NFL supplemental draft) — Kirk Francis and Will Hammond are competing for the job.
Softball
Back-to-back WCWS runner-up finishes, falling to Texas both times. Coach Gerry Glasco is running a major portal rebuild heading into next season.
Basketball
Finished 23-11, No. 21 in the final rankings, and punched a third straight NCAA Tournament ticket under Grant McCasland.
Brand & Identity
Texas Tech's true colors have always been Scarlet and Black, with white and grey as supporting tones — not gold. In October 2025, Texas Tech Athletics unveiled a modernized "Double T" mark, removing the bevel that had been in place since 1999 for a flatter, cleaner look, with the full identity rolling out across all uniforms starting the 2026-27 season. The 2025 football season also featured a "100-Year" throwback uniform honoring the program's 1925 roots, including a vintage "TECH" wordmark and laser-perforated "1925"/"2025" detailing on the collar.
